Ensure that all surfaces that the BW12 will be bonded to are free from moisture, dirt, grease and loose particles.
Prior to positioning the seal, ensure that the position of the door stop will allow the leaf to close and latch under the normal action of the door closer.
A clearance of 2-3mm should be left between the door face and stop.
Open the door and insert a wedge to stop the door from closing.
The BW12 requires a 45° mitre cut to the leg which bonds to the door stop. This will ensure correct alignment with the seal to the head rail.
To fix the seal, peel back approximately 250mm of backing paper from each leg.
Starting from the frame top, pinch the two legs together and position the side that adheres to the doorstop first. When positioning the seal ensure that the apex of the seal sits in the intersection of the doorstop to jamb.
Push the remaining leg against the jamb and secure in place.
Continue to peel off the backing paper in sections of approximately 250mm and secure to the doorstop and jamb as described above.
Once the entire jamb is finished, release the door and check for correct operation, adjust accordingly.
The BW12 can now be applied to the opposite jamb (remembering to cut the 45° mitre to one leg) then install as previously described.
Starting from the hinge side, the seal can then be fitted to the head of the frame to complete the installation.
Mitre one leg to correspond with the seal already fitted to the jamb and secure inplace as before.
When the opposite jamb is reached, trim the seal to length and cut the final mitre to align with the jamb.
Allow the door to close and adjust if required.
